Taking their name from the year Minor Threat’s self titled 7 inch was released, 1981 set out to promote a straight edge life style with fun and friendly designs rather than the more prevalent pro violence message typically associated with the straight edge movement. After a few years 1981 has incorporated drug free, vegan, vegetarian, and anti animal cruelty messages into the clothing as well. The owners of 1981 also organize the two day hardcore music festival “Bringin It Back for the Kids Fest” in ft Lauderdale Florida known for its fun and positive atmosphere.
